跟动物相关的英语习语有很多，比如猫啊，狗啊，太多了，今天来学几个跟“马”相关的短语，“horse”这个单词也挺频繁哦！
1. a horse laugh?
不是马在笑的意思，而是指不信任的嘲笑，狂笑，讥笑等。

3. a horse of a different color
这个短语起源于四百来年前，有这样一种情况，第一眼看见一匹马的时候，以为这匹马是某种颜色，但是后来再细看时却会发现颜色完全不同，所以指“完全是另一回事；另当别论”的意思。

4. be on one's high horse
high horse指高头大马，古时如果一个人骑着高头大马，则显得他高人一等的身份地位，可以随意俯视别人，所以这个短语现在形容趾高气扬，藐视他人。

5. beat a dead horse
dead horse是死马的意思，而鞭打死马自然也就没有意义，所以是徒劳无功、白费口舌的意思。

6. hold one's horse
拴住某人的马，用在口语中指让人别冲动，沉住气，耐心点。

7. clothes horse
穿衣讲究，追求时髦的人；另外也指“衣架子”，也就是穿什么都好看的人。

8. talk horse
早些时候，英国人以拥有很多马为荣，所以特别爱炫耀的人总喜欢跟别人谈论自己的马，这个词慢慢就演变成了“吹牛，说大话”的意思。
